SparkleScroll Privacy Policy

How this development preview processes scrolling, preferences, and system permissions on your Mac, and information you choose to send for support.

1. Scope and maintainers

SparkleScroll is an independent macOS scrolling-direction utility maintained by 唐梓耀 / AdrianSparkle and 丁铭 / EliasSparkle under Sparkle. This policy covers the supplied app. This website, Apple services, and other services you choose have their own processing scope.

2. Local scroll-event processing

When enabled with the required permissions, the app processes horizontal and vertical scroll deltas, continuity, gesture and momentum phases, and source process identifiers to classify devices, reverse configured axes, adjust supported wheel-unit steps, or exclude software-generated scrolling. Recent device classification and continuous-scroll state serve the current running interface.

The event mask covers scroll-wheel events only. The app does not read typed text, screen content, clipboard contents, file contents, camera, microphone, location, or contacts, and does not create input histories, advertising profiles, or AI-training data. Broad system permissions do not mean every related capability is actually used.

3. Preferences, permissions, and diagnostics

Device, axis, step, enablement, exclusion, and menu bar preferences are saved in local UserDefaults. Language preferences are saved separately. The app reads system Natural Scrolling without changing it. SMAppService and System Settings manage login startup.

Input Monitoring and Accessibility are requested and checked separately, with periodic state refresh. Current code logs permission-state changes through system logging, not scroll contents or typed input. macOS and your settings determine the actual retention of system diagnostics, logs, and backups.

4. Networks and external recipients

The current app has no account, telemetry, advertising SDK, in-app update checks, or automatic downloader. The bundle requests no network-connection entitlements and does not automatically send scroll events or preferences to maintainers.

Opening the website, System Settings, or an external source involves the relevant system or website. Websites can receive IP addresses, request headers, and ordinary request information. The document entry in the current project opens this product’s website document page; this page is also available independently on the website. Support email services and maintainers receive contact details, descriptions, and attachments you actively submit. Remove unrelated personal information first.

5. Retention, stopping, and deletion

Pausing or quitting stops scroll adjustment but does not automatically delete local preferences. Revoke permissions, disable login startup, and manage preferences, logs, or backups through the relevant system facilities. Uninstalling does not necessarily erase every preference or system copy.

Maintainers cannot remotely read or erase local configuration you have not provided. Support materials are used and retained only as necessary to handle the request and meet applicable obligations. Contact maintainers about access, corrections, or deletion. No single fixed retention period implies permission to retain information indefinitely.

6. Security, use, and changes

Permissions, sandboxing, and local storage provide some isolation but cannot guarantee security on a compromised Mac. Use devices you are authorized to control. Minors should use the app with appropriate guardian permission and guidance. Rights requests and security incidents involving information actually held by maintainers are handled under applicable law.

Material changes to features, purposes, or recipients will be dated and explained. Updating a webpage does not replace legally required notice or consent. Language versions aim to convey equivalent scope without reducing statutory rights.

7. Contact

Email sparklebossletter@outlook.com for product support, privacy, or rights requests. Identify SparkleScroll, its version, and the request. Do not initially send passwords, complete system logs, or unnecessary personal information.

SparkleScroll Terms of Service

Conditions, compatibility limits, and authorization for a local scrolling tool. This document does not promise store availability, pricing, or a release date.

1. Scope and eligibility

These terms cover SparkleScroll and related support supplied by Sparkle. Use a Mac you are entitled to control, understand the effect of adjusting input behavior, and follow applicable law, organizational rules, and third-party conditions. Minors need appropriate guardian authorization. Viewing this page or continuing use does not automatically fulfill separate legal notice or consent requirements.

2. Availability and acquisition

The current project is a 1.0.0 development preview targeting macOS 15 or later and a local Apple Silicon build. Like SparkleShot, it is preparing for Mac App Store distribution with no public download yet. This does not mean it is listed or approved, and promises no date, price, perpetual free access, or permanent compatibility.

If acquired through the App Store later, the actual listing and applicable Apple terms govern purchases, refunds, Family Sharing, and accounts. These terms do not create a subscription or payment authorization.

3. Adjustment, permissions, and system settings

The app adjusts supported scroll-wheel events according to device and axis choices. Enable system Natural Scrolling and separately grant Input Monitoring and Accessibility. Running is reported only when actual modifying scroll control is enabled. Saving preferences or passing logic tests does not guarantee every application’s behavior.

The preset enables adjustment, reverses the mouse while retaining trackpad direction, and enables reversal on both axes without changing system Natural Scrolling. Pause or quit to stop adjustment. Permissions and login startup are managed separately. Test your real devices before relying on the result in critical work.

4. Compatibility and reasonable use

Public classification relies on continuity, gesture, and momentum information and can misclassify incomplete driver reports. Wheel steps apply to supported ordinary unit ticks; 0 preserves the system default. Software-generated input can be excluded, but no uniform result is guaranteed across drivers, remote tools, or macOS releases.

Do not use the app for unauthorized device control, privacy violations, disruption, or bypassing access restrictions. System permission does not replace authorization from the device owner or organization. Pause or quit if the behavior is unsuitable.

5. Data, updates, and support

There is currently no account, telemetry, or in-app automatic update service. See the Privacy Policy for preferences and local processing. You remain responsible for your device, backups, and permissions. Actual supplied features govern; ongoing maintenance or resolution of every issue is not promised.

Use the website’s public support channels and send only necessary version, system, and reproduction details. New charges, permissions, or data processing require distinct clear information and applicable procedures.

6. Licensing, responsibility, and remedies

Software licensing, upstream rights, and attribution are described in Software License and Third-party Notices. Independent open-source permissions are not reduced. The product is not endorsed by Apple, Scroll Reverser, or its author.

To the extent permitted by law, software is supplied in its available condition without guarantees of error-free operation, every hardware configuration, or avoidance of all loss. Non-excludable liability, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, unlawful personal-information handling, and mandatory consumer rights remain. Contact maintainers or seek lawful remedies from competent authorities, without mandatory arbitration or waiver of statutory rights.

7. Ending use, changes, and contact

You may pause, quit, or stop use. Material revisions will be dated with legally necessary notice. An unenforceable provision does not invalidate independently effective provisions. Contact sparklebossletter@outlook.com and identify SparkleScroll.

SparkleScroll Software License

Permissions for original software and Apache-2.0 portions apply separately; a new interface or name does not remove upstream rights.

1. Original work and scope

Rights in SparkleScroll’s name, independent icon, interface, and new code remain with their respective holders. Sparkle is maintained by 唐梓耀 / AdrianSparkle and 丁铭 / EliasSparkle. No third-party trademark or system-interface rights are transferred.

2. Use and store copies

Subject to the Terms of Service, you may install and use a lawfully obtained version on compatible Macs you own or are authorized to use. For App Store copies without a separate custom EULA, Apple’s standard EULA and applicable store rules apply alongside relevant conditions. There is currently no public website download.

3. Reserved proprietary rights

Except as permitted by law, separate express permission, or independent component licenses, no right is granted to redistribute original proprietary software, modify it for separate sale, rent or sublicense it, or remove rights notices. This does not restrict non-excludable statutory rights, security research, or Apache-2.0 permissions for covered portions.

4. Apache-2.0 origin and priority

Scroll-transformation logic is adapted from Scroll Reverser 1.9 by Nicholas Moore, fixed upstream commit 7bc618d4436425c59c630cbd2956e6f4ae46ebe0. The product uses a Swift implementation, a Sparkle interface, and public APIs. Original Apache-2.0 text and the preserved NOTICE are provided separately.

Covered portions may be used, modified, and distributed under Apache-2.0, subject to applicable license, change-marking, copyright, and NOTICE requirements. This page does not declare the entire application open source, and proprietary reservations do not override independent component permissions.

5. Trademarks, updates, and responsibility

Upstream restrictions concerning the Scroll Reverser name and icon remain; source availability does not grant a right to use them as derivative-product branding. SparkleScroll uses an independent name and icon. Later versions follow the terms actually supplied. Responsibility and statutory rights follow the Terms of Service and applicable law.

6. Licensing contact

Contact sparklebossletter@outlook.com about team distribution, commercial cooperation, or original-source licensing and explain the intended scope. Separate commercial arrangements do not remove existing Apache-2.0 permissions for covered portions.
